What do you mean by "Baptist Church?"
Baptist Distinctives
We call ourselves a Baptist church because we accept and believe 8 Biblical truths that make us distinct from other denominations. We view the Bible as the sole, ultimate authority for faith and practice. We believe in the autonomy of the church: each individual church has been delegated self-governing authority by God. We believe in the priesthood of the believer: every believer has direct access to God without the need of a mediator or priest. We believe the Bible teaches that there are only two ordinances that church is directed to keep: Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.
We believe in individual soul liberty: the God-given freedom and ability to individually know and respond to God's will. We believe in saved church membership: Baptists believe that only "saved" persons — those who have attained salvation through faith in Christ as their savior — should be members of a church. We believe there are only 2 offices within the church: the pastor and deacon. We believe in the separation of church and state. The Bible teaches that governments are ordained by God, and they are to be respected and obeyed except when obedience would be directly contrary to God's revealed will in the Bible.
